Ticonderoga Village/Town Joint Fire District

The Ticonderoga Fire District is not a municipal department within the Town of Ticonderoga. It is a separate taxing district serving residents who live within the Ticonderoga Village/Town Joint Fire District. It is governed by the laws of New York State and a Board of five (5) Fire Commissioners. The Ticonderoga Volunteer Fire Department is the firefighting entity of the District. The Town of Ticonderoga does not operate or govern this department nor does it set the annual budget for the District, but the Town does collect the District’s annual tax levy.

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE FIRE DISTRICT:

“Our fire station has served Ticonderoga since 1976—but it was never meant to be permanent. Originally built as a grocery store, it now suffers from serious issues: ongoing mold remediation, roof and structural concerns, deteriorating floors, exposed gear lockers, and bays that are too small for today’s equipment. We invite you to watch this short informational video to learn more about the current conditions and why a solution is critical for the safety of our firefighters and the community. Thank you for taking the time to stay informed and support your local fire department.”

More information will be coming out this summer that will provide more details for the future of the fire station. Please contact Fire Chief, Jason Parent with any questions.

Chilson Fire Protection District

Ticonderoga is also served by the Chilson Fire Protection District as a contracted provider of fire protection. The Ticonderoga Town Board oversees this Fire Protection District including its annual budget.
